Hello hello all
I was kindly sent some lovely products from Creative Nature as they knew of my love of raw chocolate and wanted me to show you the wonders of raw cacao. Raw cacao is definitely one of my fave ingredients out there for recipes because um, well I love chocolate…but this is a super healthy way to get your chocolate boost without the sugar because it’s in it’s raw form. Raw cacao is very high in antioxidants and magnesium – both great for health and I’m a big fan of adding them to my diet naturally as well as through supplements. It also contains essential fatty acids which are so important for everyday health and did you know, it also contains theobromine which is a mild, non addictive stimulant believed to help depression? Any excuse for more chocolate in opinion anyway
They also gave me three of their bars which were all amazing and again, all raw and made with natural ingredients and I liked how they tasted different to the Nakd bars. Similar kind of texture as you get with raw ingredients.
The ‘Heavenly Cacao’ bar was great in that it had berries added to it too, definitely a winning combination. The ‘Tropical Treat’ was amazing in that it had a nice pineapple and coconut flavour but it had a kick of ginger too! I totally love ginger so this was so good! My fave had to be the ‘Sublime Seed’ one which I didn’t expect in the slightest but it turned out to have peanuts and hemp protein in it…maybe because of my love of peanut butter and protein that it gave me a familiar taste that I love hehe
So with the cacao powder I thought I’d just give you all a nice simple recipe for ingredients that are easily accessible. A lot of raw chocolate is made with cacao butter but you have to buy this in specialist shops or online and can be pretty pricey so I thought I’d stick with coconut oil which generally gets more use for cooking too. I decided to make raw nutella chocolates because um…I’ve been a little obsessed with Meridian’s hazelnut butter recently! It’s so amazing!! Creative Nature and Meridian’s products are all available in Holland & Barrett so you can get them all in one place
This recipe is done in grams by the way as opposed to my usual cups.
Raw Nutella Chocolates
(Dairy Free, Gluten Free, Wheat Free, Egg free, Vegan)
(Makes 12 chocolates)
25g coconut oil
50g hazelnut butter
10g raw cacao powder
1 pipette full of liquid vanilla stevia
Melt the coconut oil in a bowl in the microwave until just melted. Add the hazelnut butter, raw cacao, and stevia and mix until well combined. In a chocolate mould tray (I use silicone ones because they are so easy to pop out the chocolates), put in a hazelnut into each individual mould. Pour the chocolate on top of each hazelnut until it fills the mould. Put in the freezer and enjoy once set!
Also for my vegan friends, check out @TeenVGN on Twitter who Creative Nature are good friends with. They are doing a fab job raising awareness for veganism in teenagers which I think is so good given what it did for my health in my late teens. Changed my life dramatically and although I am not vegan anymore, it is still a part of my life and always will be
