Vegan Food Swap and Life

Hello there strangers!

Oh how life is passing me by right now..I can’t flippin believe it’s already August?! What the…how did that happen?!

Well here I am again just popping in really. I don’t have much to say. Okay, I lie, I have a little. The month of July has been a funny one. It started off fairly well. I was getting back into my fitness routine, feeling great, exploring new foodie products. I also received a wonderful package from the lovely Sasha at To Happy Vegans who unfortunately had my gluten free diet to deal with which is definitely not an easy one when you don’t know what sort of things to buy! She did amazingly well though and even found some things that I’ve never tried before!

Vegan pate, GF pretzels, Mrs Crimbles Dutch Apple Cake, Dark chocolate rice cake thins, Berry Nakd Bar, Onion Oaty Bakes

Out of these I was particularly excited about the GF pretzels because just the very week before I was going on about wanting some!! I was also excited about the dark chocolate rice cakes as I had only had these once and loved them. New to me was the pate and the oaty bakes and I must say, the oaty bakes are amazing!! I love anything onion flavoured (hello stinky breath over here! :P ) and these were just perfect. I still need to try the pate so I’ll see how I go with that…not my usual type of food I must admit! The Nakd bar…well of course you can’t go wrong with their bars <3 The cake unfortunately isn’t gluten free as it is made with rye flour but meant that it has lower levels of gluten than if it was made with wheat flour so I decided to dive into it and deal with any tummy troubles because it was so yummy that it was worth it!!

All in all, thankyou so so much Sasha. You did an amazing job of buying some great things for me to try! <3 If you haven’t checked out the vegan food swap and are interested, you should head over here!

After all the excitement from the start of the month, things started to go more downhill really. My health has been suffering in numerous ways recently. Then my skin has just gone horrible on top of that. I have so many spots it’s practically mild acne now. I have huge dark circles under my eyes for some reason..Then to finish me off, I got a kidney infection which made me feel quite sick for a while and stopped me from exercising along with the other problems. I did however manage to drag myself to the new release of BodyPump (my gym has taken a while to get on board with this one for some reason…)

Waiting to go!

And this is how my gym introduces the new releases of BodyPump and BodyCombat. Pretty cool huh?! It was kind of weird doing weights in the dark with disco lights flashing as I couldn’t properly see what weights I was putting on my bar and ended up going slightly heavier than I would have preferred, along with feeling sick, I was practically dying by the end of the hour with all those press ups that I hate! Why are there so frickin many?! I particularly loved the Evanescence track and ended up singing the whole song whilst I was pumping away. I’m a secret huge fan which people don’t expect :)

I also cheered myself up by buying some new Skins. They are so so comfy, I’ve just been living in them around my flat. Definitely worth the money!

Other than that, life has been filled with drawing for uni…

And lots of cereal and popcorn have been consumed…they seem to be my favorite foods at the moment. Although last night I had a disaster with the popcorn and burnt it very badly and stunk out of my flat. Try not to do this…it seriously stinks. I then returned for another bowl of cereal to make up for it, always a safe option! ;)

But things are going to turn round for August I can feel it. Things never get me down for long and I always keep on going :) To start off my amazing August I received my copy of Wish magazine today which I’m excited to read as it looks absolutely beautiful filled with alsorts including illustration which personally, I find makes magazines really special but that’s maybe because that’s what I do on my course and I can appreciate the time that’s gone into it.

I am also re-starting my driving lessons tomorrow after I started them when I was 17 and was ready to do my test after 10 or so lessons (I’m a quick learner it seems..) but had to stop because I had to go into hospital for my ED. I shouldn’t technically have been driving but my teacher was of course oblivious to my illness. Then I guess I never got back into it because I haven’t needed to! But I thought I might aswell use the time that I have spare at the moment to just get it under my belt…and I have been promised a car….

How was your July?

What are your favorite foods at the moment?

  1. I can’t wait to receive my copy of Wish magazine! It looks so beautiful. Sorry you’ve been feeling poorly, but I love your enthusiasm to have an Amazing August! I am hoping that August will be the best month yet, too :)

  2. AHHHH, Nikki, I really think “there has been something in the air” this month as pretty much everyone I speak to online and where I live has been sick. Ive never had spots/acne, but I too, have had (painful!!!!) spots for reasons I dont understands this month….?!!?! I love your skins also! I wished they did body pump where I live, it looks so amazing! Good luck with your driving lessons – having a car bought for you is a huge motivator. I also think its much easier when your older as opposed to being 17 =] x

  3. Body pump looks insane! Wish my gym did that, looks fun! Hope you are ok, great attitude for August though! Oh and as I’m writing this just remembered I’m going to yoga later if you feel up to it :-)

  4. Hello fellow closet rock chick ;) pleased to see a wee update from you!

Your drawings are amazing! Our fashion course was mainly business and we never got to explore our creative side. Hence why I hated my course!

I’m sorry to hear you haven’t been well. Really try and take it easy sweetheart and let your body get some rest xxx

  5. Oh my gosh that looks like such a fun way to do body pump!!! haha that’s how my instructor does bodyjam (with disco lights and stuff) and it’s so fun!

  6. I LOVE Mrs Crimble cakes… the ginger one is amazing too.

You are so talented at drawing m’dear xx

  7. I love those dark chocolate rice cakes. Hope you feel better soon and have an amazing August! Good luck with the driving lessons! x

  8. All those food swap reveals make me really excited about finally getting my pairing and start to get packing! I have so many ideas and just hope I get some exotic fit from somewhere around europe – it is so nice to get vegan stuff that usualy you cannot lay your hands on :)

  9. Everything looks delicious! I got my license the week after my 18th birthday, since I never took driver’s ed (here, if you’re 18, all you need is to pass the tests). I had to take the test twice (I took it first on my birthday and failed the driving backwards part, haha) but it was worth skipping the classes! Yay for taking your life back :)

  10. Hey sweetie pops! I wanted to leave you a message when I first read this post on my mobile but my mobile doesn’t like to comment! Just wanted to say that I love your sketches :-) My fave ones that I’ve seen of yours :-) Phil put one of those pates in my christmas stocking one year – I never go for pates either but it was yummy and perfect with crackers over the christmas period :-) Big hugs little one x x x x x

Your comments make me smile :)
