Hey my lovies,
This week has been so amazingly great! It has been full of good food, exercise (and some new classes which I love!), shopping, sleeping and friends. What more could a girl ask for?! Oh…maybe a little bit of sun….
I tried to be optimistic one morning when I woke up by putting on some new sunglasses whilst I was getting ready haha! I’m a little weird and WOOH for bedhair
Alongside the fun, I promise I have been sketching though I’m taking it just 2-4 pages a day at the moment and it seems to be going well. I think I’m finally getting into the swing of it and not putting too much pressure on myself to have to bomb out loads at once.
Since I got back home from my London adventure, things have been going great fitness wise. I actually think it did me a tonne of good to have a break from it because it’s relaxed me more about exercise and pressurising myself to do a certain amount every single day. Now I just go with the flow, do however much I feel like, some days more, some days less but always keeping myself in check with how my body is feeling. It feels a whole lot nicer.
Everyday on my walk to the gym I pass a little place in the campus grounds that has wild rabbits. It makes me smile every time I go past them…so want to take the little baby ones home with me!
Exercise started off in the week with my usual cardio with a little weights but as the week has progressed, my shins have started to play up from the tabata class I took last week (which was really fun by the way!) where I did sets of sprinting and injured myself slightly. I didn’t think it would get any worse but as it did, I started to do more weights over cardio throughout the week. I’m kinda glad though because I really am getting into strength training more and from the tabata class, I am incorporating the 20 secs exercise, 10 secs rest into the exercises I do like kettlebell swinging. It’s really fun and challenging!
I also took my first ever yoga class! And not just yoga, hot yoga! And man, it was hot!!! And not just a hot yoga class, but I went with Laura which made it extra fun!! I found it quite a challenge as my first class and my god, my abs were killing me as I have been doing a lot of ab work recently and that just topped me off! We were also challenged to do the crow pose which is really hard to start off with! Me and Laura and are determined to get it though – afterall, we did both manage to do an assisted headstand!! Really hard work, but I’m proud of us both
Another new for me has been intense spinning which lasts for just 30 minutes as opposed to the usual 45 but is harder work in that time which I have done twice this week! As I said before, I normally hate bikes in the gym, but this has totally opened my eyes up to the world of bikes! I think I will stick with the intense classes though to motivate me because otherwise I am not a bike fan..I am definitely loving shorter, sharper cardio sessions at the moment which is why I loved the tabata too. They really get your heart racing and work up a good sweat!
I have also been making a conscious effort to increase my protein along with the increase in strength training so smoothies have made their way back into my life! My fave at the moment is chocolate blueberry made with chocolate protein powder, Almond Breeze milk and frozen blueberries – so simple yet delicious and no need for any gums because of the frozen blueberries which make it so thick
I’ve had a few accidents with my blender though whooops! I have been saying this for over a year now, but I really must get a bigger one!!
And on the subject of protein, sea cakes have rapidly made a reappearance into my life after living on them for 4 months haha! I really do love them though and they are great for protein
Another great thing at the moment is obviously the summer fruits which I have been enjoying every single day (no surprise there anyway…) by the bowlful. I just love how I can get them so cheap at the market (it helps to make friends with the vendors ) and they’re so fresh and yum!
Since returning back home I have also been craving a lot of my old favorite cooked meals of course! I’m having to make do with butternut squash at the moment because my flippin Waitrose doesn’t have any kabocha boo! My fave meal this week has been my old favorite before I was gluten free which is curried roasted gluten from the chinese market. I paid for this with my stomach problems as the next day was really not great but it was really worth it!!!
This afternoon I have been chilling with the new Elle and plan of slapping on the free St Tropez moisturizing fake tan later along with another of my fave snacks at the moment, almonds with a few dates and corn cakes (which are highly addictive I warn you having eaten half the packet in one day…)
And yeah. I still need help with this addiction….like, seriously…it is not normal!
